Creating Product Variants

A product variant is a product with related characteristics. For example, a medium-sized, green shirt with a stock-keeping unit (SKU) of 14678 is one product variant of the Shirt product; together size, color, and SKU form one variant.

 

A product variant is a product with related characteristics.

We will create Characteristics/Variants for T-Shirts that have the following characteristics red, blue and green. They all have the same price, but different sizes (S, M, L).

Go into products > characteristics

Go into products > characteristics

Click on New

Click on New

Enter the name of your product variant 1) colours in the Name field and click on 2) Save & Close.

You should now see the above variant.

You should now see the above variant. Now repeat the same process and create another variant called sizes.

Create Products called "T-Shirt" via the Products menu.

Create the products Products > Product. Create a product called "T-Shirt".

When you fill out the details for the product, at Characteristics click on the + sign. You should also load up a representative image that you want this product to display as your main image. Also every other detail filled out here will be the default unless something else is added as a variant to the product (in steps 4-5).

Click on variant sizes and add colour.

Click on the variant sizes > Add and Colour > Add. Arrange the order by numbering them as you want them to be presented as checkboxes in the frontend.

5. Click Manage variants and for each characteristics, change as required:

i.e . red ..... small, sizes...large with a quality 10, 20 .... price $5, $10. Save for each variant.

Click Manage variants and for each characteristics.
